The Egyptian Ministry of Finance has announced an increase in the price of tax stamps on imported alcoholic beverages and local and imported cigarette and tobacco products, set to take effect on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
According to Ibrahim Embaby, Head of the Tobacco Division, the banderole price on alcoholic beverages will rise by 25 piastres, from 75 piastres to 1 pound. The banderole price on local and imported cigarette and tobacco products will increase by 5 piastres, from 15 piastres to 20 piastres per stamp.
Despite the tax stamp price hike, Embaby confirmed that the prices of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages will remain stable at their current levels in the Egyptian market.
In related news, the European Commission has issued a security alert regarding potentially toxic electronic cigarettes seized in Boston, Lincolnshire. The R&M Tornado Vapes devices confiscated by police contain high and dangerous levels of nicotine, with a capacity of 30,000 puffs and 30 ml of e-liquid, which is 15 times the legal maximum limit of 2 ml. These electronic cigarettes contain nicotine equivalent to 375 king-size cigarettes and come in various flavors.
